Html page structure

← Previous Next →

An HTML document is composed of three parts:

  • A liine containing HTML version information,
  • A declarative header section (delimited by the HEAD element),
  • A body, which contains the document's actual content. The body may be implemented by the BODY element.

Below is a visualization of an HTML page structure:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"
   "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html>
<head>
       <title>Page title</title>
</head>
<body>
        <h1>This is a heading</h1>
        <p>This is a paragraph.</p>
        <p>This is another paragraph.</p>
</body>
</html>
