1.India Ranks 44th in Global Intellectual Property Index, US Tops
India has increased “substantially” its score in the International Intellectual Property (IP) Index, ranking 44th among 50 nations, according to the US Chambers of Commerce report. Last year, India ranked 43rd out of 45 countries in the Index.
The top 3 countries on the list are- The USA, The United Kingdom and Sweden.
India’s overall score has increased substantially from 25% in the 5th edition of the Index to 30% in the 6th edition, according to the annual report prepared by the Global Innovation Policy Centre (GIPC) of the US Chambers of Commerce.
2.PM Modi 3 Nation Visit- Leaves for Palestine
Prime Minister Narendra Modi left for his three-nation visit to Palestine, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. This is the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Palestine, and Prime Minister Modi's second visit to UAE and first to Oman.
Prime Minister would be addressing the Sixth World Government Summit being held in Dubai, UAE at which India has been extended 'Guest of Honour' status.

3.South Central Railway Becomes 1st Rail Zone with 100% LED Lighting at Stations
The South Central Railway (SCR) has become the first railway zone in the country to complete 100% LED lighting at all the stations under its jurisdiction. It has attained the status of becoming the first zone in the Indian Railways to complete 100% LED lighting in all the 733 stations under its jurisdiction.
Piyush Goyal is the present Railways Minister of India.
John Mathai was the first railway Minister of Independent India.
4.Former Bangladesh PM sentenced for 5 years
Bangladesh Nationalist Party leader and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was jailed for five years. She was found guilty in a corruption case by a Special Judge’s Court in Dhaka. She was charged with misappropriating Tk 21 million in foreign donations received by the ‘Zia Orphanage Trust’.
5.U.P. govt to provide Taj protection plan: SC
Supreme Court directed the UP government to place before it a vision document on protection and preservation of the Taj Mahal. The TTZ is an area of about 10,400 sq. km spread over the districts of Agra, Firozabad, Mathura, Hathras and Etah in U.P. and Rajasthan.
A Bench of justices Madan B. Lokur and Deepak Gupta asked why there was a “sudden flurry of activity” in the Taj Trapezium Zone.
6.RK Singh Launches ASH TRACK Mobile App for Better Management of FlyAash
Union Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri R.K Singh, launched a Web-based monitoring System and a Fly Ash mobile application named ASH TRACK.
These platforms will enable better management of the ash produced by thermal power plants by providing an interface between fly ash producers (Thermal Power Plants) and potential ash users such as – road contractors, cement plants etc.
7.NHAI to Start 'pay as you use' Pilot Project on Delhi-Mumbai National Highways
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will start a pilot project called "pay as you use" on the Delhi-Mumbai Highway to study and implement the ability of the system in the country. The project to be run for one year involves implementing a satellite-based electronic toll collection system running on GPS/GSM technology for around 500 commercial vehicles on the Delhi-Mumbai National Highway.

1.Khelo India School Games Concludes; Haryana Tops Medal Tally
The first Khelo India School Games concluded in New Delhi with sports powerhouse Haryana topped the overall medal tally. The state won 102 medals which include 38 gold and 26 silver.
Maharashtra with 110 medals (36 of them gold) finished second while Delhi with 94 medals came third. Sports Minister, Col Rajyavardhan Rathore presented the top State Haryana with the glittering trophy.
Anu Kumar of Uttarakhand grabbed the first gold medal of the Khelo India School Games in 1500 metres Race.
Malivika Bansood won the last gold medal for the state in the girl's badminton singles final.

IndusInd Bank launched its new Sonic Identity, which is essentially a musical logo called 'MOGO', as part of its branding initiatives. 2.Hardayal Prasad Appointed SBI Card MD & CEO
SBI Card, the country's second-largest credit card issuer, has appointed Hardayal Prasad as new Managing Director (MD) & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. He has replaced Vijay Jasuja.
HDFC Bank is India's largest credit card issuer.
3.PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi Becomes ICC's 1st Independent Female Director
PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi has been appointed as the International CricketCouncil's (ICC) first-ever independent female director. Nooyi will join the cricket body in June2018 for a 2-year term.
The introduction of an Independent Director, who must be female, was approved by the ICC in June 2017, aimed at improving the global governance of the sport.
