The Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project will create an enabling environment for producer organizations and enterprises to promote businesses across select value chains.
The Project will be operational in 120 blocks across 3994 villages in 26 Districts of Tamil Nadu.
3.India Slips to 42nd Place on EIU Democracy Index, Norway Tops
India has slipped to 42nd place on an annual Global Democracy Index according to the data compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). India has moved down from 32nd place last year.

The index ranks 165 independent states. The list has been divided into four broad categories- full democracy, flawed democracy, hybrid regime and authoritarian regime. North Korea is ranked the lowest at 167th, while Syria is a notch better at 166th place.
1.Anu Kumar wins first gold in Khelo India School Games
Anu Kumar (Uttarakhand) grabbed the first gold medal of the Khelo India School Games in 1500meters (4 minutes and 4 seconds) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.
In the girl category, C Chanthini (Kerala) won the gold medal in 1500-metres run.
Abhishek Singh (Uttar Pradesh) won the Shot Put with an excellent throw of 18.73 metres while Praveen of Tamil Nadu won the triple jump in his sixth attempt with 15.22 metres.
Haryana girl Pooja excelled in the Shot Put and won the gold with a best of 13.88 metres.
1.World Bank Commits $100 million to Boost Tamil Nadu's Rural Economy
The government and World Bank signed a $100 million (about Rs 6,400 crore) loan agreement to promote rural economy in selected blocks of Tamil Nadu across 26 districts, benefiting over 4 lakh people. The funding aimed at promoting rural enterprises, facilitate their access to finance and create employment opportunities for youth particularly women.
