1.President inaugurates Economic Democracy Conclave

President Ram Nath Kovind has inaugurated the ‘Economic Democracy Conclave’ at Thane, Maharastra.

The conclave being organized by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini with an aim to create a platform for young entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals.

2.India, Israel ink Nine Pacts on Cyber Security, Other Sectors

India and Israel signed nine documents to further the cooperation. These include cooperation in Cybersecurity, cooperation in the field of Petroleum and natural gas, document for the amendment to the air transport agreement, cooperation in film co-production, cooperation in the homoeopathy medicines, co-operation in the field of space science, boosting investment, cooperation in metal-air batteries and cooperation in solar thermal technology.

3.Israeli PM Netanyahu inaugurates 3rd edition of geo-political conference

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has inaugurated the three-day geo-political conference - Raisina Dialogue (3rd edition) in New Delhi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj have also participated in the inaugural session of the event.

The theme of the dialogue this year is 'Managing Disruptive Transitions: Ideas, Institutions and Idioms’.

The event is being jointly organized by the External Affairs Ministry and Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

 

4.Veteran journalist NK Trikha passes away

Veteran journalist NK Trikha (82-year) passed away at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after a prolonged illness.

Mr. Trikha had worked at Hindi newspaper Navbharat Times for a long time and was also the editor of its Lucknow edition.

He also served as a member of the Press Council of India (PCI) and two-time president of the National Union of Journalists (India).

5.Actor Sudhir Dalvi gets Janakavi P Sawlaram award

Actor Sudhir Dalvi has been awarded the Janakavi P Sawlaram award at a function in Thane, Maharashtra.

The Janakavi P Sawlaram award is instituted by Thane Municipal Corporation in association with the Janakavi P Savlaram Kala Samiti.

Jaishree T (Dancer) has been awarded the Ganga Jamuna award.

1.Rajyavardhan Rathore launches ‘Khelo India’ Anthem

The Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore has launched the official anthem and mascot of Khelo India School Games (from 31st Jan this year).

The anthem aims to focus on brotherhood, equality, and solidarity in sports.

Now, an athlete wins a medal at Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Olympics, the coach gets the incentive.

Sports Ministry has already decided to select 1000 athletes every year under the Khelo India School Games for a scholarship of Rs 5 lakhs each for eight successive years.

2.Nation's Cup tournament: Indian boxers claim 11 gold medals

Indian boxers have claimed 11 gold medals and both the team championship trophies in the Nation's Cup tournament for junior and youth women in Sombor, Serbia.

The junior team won 13 medals(nine gold, two silvers and two bronze medals)while the youth team clinched four medals(3 gold and one bronze.

1.Digital launch of ‘I4Fund call for proposal’ website at India-Israel Business Summit

The ‘I4Fund Call for Proposal’ was announced with the joint launch of the website and the unveiling of the brochure by the two PMs (Narendra Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu). The "India-Israel Industrial R&D and Technological Innovation Fund (I4F)" was announced in July, 2017. 

Under this, the Department of Science and Technology, India and the National Innovation Authority of Israel have established a 40 million US dollar Fund.

1.PM Modi inaugurates Rajasthan's Oil Refinery at Pachpadra in Barmer

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the work of Rajasthan Oil Refinery at Pachpadra in Barmer district of the state.

This will be the first oil refinery in the state.

The project is a joint venture between HPCL and Rajasthan government.

The project is expected to generate 10 thousand direct and 40 thousand indirect employment.
